What We Offer

We offer specialist tuition in clarinet and saxophone, with lessons tailored to the unique techniques, tone production, and musical demands of both clarinet and saxophone. Our personalised approach helps students build strong foundations, develop confidence, and enjoy steady musical progress. Our lessons are designed to be engaging, inspiring, and accessible for learners of all ages and abilities. Through carefully selected repertoire, creative teaching, and opportunities to perform within a supportive community, students experience not only the joy of making music but also the lifelong benefits that come from learning and playing an instrument.

Both Liz and Andy Firth hold current Working with Children Checks (WWCC). We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment where students can develop their musical skills with confidence.

Face to face lessons are based in our Newcastle NSW Studios. Lessons coincide with the NSW school term dates.

  • "Thank you Liz! You are the best music teacher ever! I am so grateful that you have brought me such a long way".

    Hannah-Clarinet Student

  • "Having lessons with Andy is always a highlight of my week, he has so much passion for music and inspires that within me. I learn so much from him, about jazz, improvising, composing and everything, he has really showed me what music is about, and now it is truly a passion for me. From working with Andy, I have improved immensely and I would recommend him as a teacher to anyone. He is an Australian Music Legend."

    Will-Tenor Saxophone Student

  • "Thank you Liz for everything you've helped me do. I never dreamed I would be where I am today. I cannot wait for next year, where I'm sure I will get better. You are amazing!"

    Rose-Clarinet Student

  • "Learning with Andy is an incredibly constructive experience, where every lesson you learn more about yourself as a player. My technique and musicality would not be at the same level they are now if it wasn’t for taking lessons with Andy".

    Joel-Alto Saxophone Student

  • "Liz is an excellent teacher. She can be both fun and firm, when the occasion calls for it. My daughter rates her 4.5/5 as a teacher, saying she loses half a mark for threatening to grow two heads (when said daughter does not practice). Lovely end-of-year celebrations as well"

    Jo-Parent of Anna Clarinet Student

  • "Andy has been a wonderful saxophone teacher while I’ve been learning with him. He has incredible experience and saxophone and clarinet knowledge that has helped me improve tremendously".

    Henry-Alto Saxophone Student

  • "I feel honoured to be one of Andy Firth's students! He is an absolutely amazing musician and teacher who is so willing to impart his knowledge and skills to his students. Liz and Andy have established such a valuable music tutoring system that I am so grateful to be apart of"

    Tylah- Clarinet Graduate

  • "Andy Firth is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. I would always look forward to our lessons. It was exciting to see a musician with such amazing experience as an educator and performer, and who is always working on different projects. Every lesson was unique... he knew exactly what I needed to work on and had a piece for it. Andy instilled my love of music and the drive for me to be the best musician I can be".

Zac Donoghoe (Australian Clarinet Soloist. D.Mus)

  • “Andy’s teaching and resources helped me to develop comprehensive technical skills on my saxophone, allowing me to play whatever I want and to take my music to new heights”.

    Ben Rowney (Jazz Woodwind Soloist)
